How much does a restaurant POS cost in Malaysia? (2026)

POS quotes are hard to compare because four different costs get bundled together: software subscription, hardware, payment fees and implementation. Here is what Malaysian restaurants are actually paying in 2026, and where the hidden costs sit.

1. Software subscription

QR ordering onlyRM 0 – RM 400 per monthFree tiers usually carry provider branding; mid-range RM 150–400

Most single outlets end up between RM 90 and RM 250 per month once they need kitchen display and reports.

2. Payment fees (the biggest variable)

Card MDR in Malaysia sits around 1.5%–3% depending on volume and provider; FPX is a flat fee (about RM 0.75–1.50 per transaction); DuitNow QR is often 0.5%–0.6%. On RM 30,000 monthly card sales, a 1% difference in MDR is RM 300 a month — more than most software subscriptions.

3. Hardware

A tablet for the floor (RM 400–1,200), a kitchen screen (RM 600–2,000) and a receipt printer (RM 300–800). Cloud systems usually do not require a proprietary terminal; that is where a lot of the "cheap" quotes hide their margin.

4. Implementation and menu setup

Full POS vendors often charge RM 500–2,000 for installation and training. QR-only systems are typically free to RM 300. Ask whether menu entry is included — doing 80 dishes manually takes a full day.

What to compare

For reference, Yekeep is RM 0 on the Free plan and RM 79/month (annual) on Pro with kitchen display, inventory and membership included — no setup fee and no commission on orders. See pricing or try the ordering demo.
